Crafting My "Happy Birthday Boy" Layout with Uniquely Creative's Hello Darling Collection ππ¦
Hello, crafty friends! π Today, Iβm sharing a scrapbook layout that I created using the absolutely gorgeous Uniquely Creative Hello Darling collection. This layout is all about soft blues, browns, and adorable touches to celebrate my little one's birthday! π₯³ While I canβt share the photos (to protect my kiddoβs privacy), I hope this step-by-step inspires you to craft something magical.
The Base Layers: Framed Perfection πΌοΈ
I started with two papers from the Hello Darling collection kit:
- Treasured: I "gutted" this paper (cut out the middle) because I absolutely love it and wanted to save the center for another project.
- Adorable: This became my main background. I distressed the edges to add texture and then layered it over the Treasured paper to create a beautiful frame. Frames like this are my go-to for layoutsβthey add such a polished, cohesive look!
Photo Mats and Layers πΈ
For my photos, I used scraps of paper from the 6x6 paper pad (though any size scraps work perfectly). After mounting my photos, I added layers of tickets from the Creative Cuts. Here's a little trick: I cut the tickets in half to stretch them further! βοΈ I also distressed the edges of almost all the Creative Cuts to give everything a cohesive, slightly vintage look.

I positioned the photos next to each other, tilting the smaller one lower and at an angle to let the larger photo take center stage.

Creative Cuts: Stars, Balloons, and an Adorable Owl πππ¦
Next, I hunted through the Creative Cuts pack for all the stars, balloons and banners in shades of blue and brown. I clustered these elements in three areas around the main photo for balance and visual interest.
Hereβs how I layered them:
- Some pieces were glued directly to the page.
- Others were popped up on foam tape for dimension.
For the adorable birthday owl, I placed him between the photos to make him a focal point. (Isnβt he just the cutest?!)

One fun challenge: I loved the brown spotty balloons but they had baby-themed sayings on them, so I cleverly covered the text with stars from the Creative Cuts. Crafty problem-solving for the win! β¨

Adding the Title and Details π
The title came together perfectly using only Creative Cuts: "Happy Birthday Boy". I added it just below the main photo for a clean, balanced look. For the numbers, I dipped into my stash to include the year (2020) and my sonβs age (10).

Finishing Touches: Ink Splatters π¨
To tie everything together, I grabbed my Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Gathered Twigs. I watered it down and used a paintbrush to flick some splatters across the page. This added the perfect amount of subtle texture and interest to the background.
The Final Look β¨
Iβm absolutely thrilled with how this layout turned out! The soft blues and browns perfectly complement my owl-loving boy, and the layered clusters add so much depth and charm. π¦π
